Ayola Akim Adegnika
We cordially invite you to this year's Annual Meeting of the German Center for Infection Research (DZIF) on the outskirts of Tübingen (Stuttgart).
The structure of this year's scientific sessions will be provided by our four Grand Challenge areas. Thereby, we hope to highlight existing parallels and stimulate further synergy and interactions. In successive poster sessions, each of these Grand Challenge areas will present itself to the DZIF community, requesting feedback and exchange.
In recent years, the challenges faced by researchers in the field of infectious diseases have significantly increased. One example of this is the rise in the global average temperature, which favors the spread of pathogens to the north, thus bringing more and more people into contact with tropical infections.
Further challenges are the worldwide increase in resistant pathogens, the spread of infections due to migration and travel activities, and the reduced interest of the pharma industry in antibiotic development. These factors have a direct influence on global health and must be taken into account in further planning and development of new research within the DZIF and beyond.
We are looking forward to welcoming you to Stuttgart from 23rd to 24th November 2020.
